Testimonies

"These workshops were very engaging and fun for our K-5th grade students over the summer.  Public speaking is no easy feat, and yet I had the chance to listen to some of our youngest students debate fun arguments like why Christmas is the best holiday and why Minecraft is better than Roblox.  Kids had a blast and so did the staff who got to listen"

- Priscilla Kim, Elementary School Program Coordinator at Koreatown Youth Community Center

About Debate 4 All

Hello! Welcome to Debate 4 All. This organization has been founded  with a goal to increase student engagement in debate by starting debate programs in middle schools everywhere.

The ability to debate is a crucial life skill; it is proven that debaters are better public speakers with advanced writing skills and are able to engage in longer and deeper conversations than their peers.  Studies show that high school graduation rates for debaters were, on average, 40% higher than the ones for non-debaters. In addition, debaters have higher SAT and ACT scores by 6 to 19 percent in all subjects than non-debaters. Other studies show that when kids begin debate at an early age, they tend to be more motivated and have more successful careers.

Debate also promotes the five C’s of 21st century skills: critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, and civic awareness. Debate improves students’ speaking skills and teamwork, while also furthering their knowledge retention. Most debate topics revolve around relevant political and social issues, contributing to students’ enhanced knowledge of current events. This paves a path for them to become active and engaged citizens.

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, debate is fun! The competitive nature of the activity, combined with much collaboration and school spirit, makes debate really engaging!

Overall, the positive effects of debate are numerous and starting early puts students on the path to success.
